1. Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab,
   "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve,
   there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word."
2. Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah:
3. "Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan.
4. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there."
5. So he did what the LORD had told him.
   He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.
6. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening,
   and he drank from the brook.
7. Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
8. Then the word of the LORD came to him:
9. "Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there.
   I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food."
10. So he went to Zarephath.
   When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks.
   He called to her and asked, "Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?"
11. As she was going to get it, he called, "And bring me, please, a piece of bread."
12. "As surely as the LORD your God lives," she replied,
   "I don't have any bread--only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug.
   I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it--and die."
13. Elijah said to her,
   "Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said.
   But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me,
   and then make something for yourself and your son.
14. For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:
   'The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD gives rain on the land.'"
15. She went away and did as Elijah had told her.
   So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.
16. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry,
   in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah.
17. Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became ill.
   He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing.
18. She said to Elijah,
   "What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?"
19. "Give me your son," Elijah replied.
   He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed.
20. Then he cried out to the LORD,
   "O LORD my God, have you brought tragedy also upon this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?"
21. Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried to the LORD,
   "O LORD my God, let this boy's life return to him!"
22. The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived.
23. Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house.
   He gave him to his mother and said, "Look, your son is alive!"
24. Then the woman said to Elijah,
   "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth."




엘리야의 선지자 사역들...

하나님은
당신을 떠나 악행하는 이스라엘의 왕들을
그대로 놓아두시지 아니하신다.

하나님의 선지자를 보내시고
그 선지자로 하나님의 말씀을 대언케 하심으로
하나님의 살아계심을 증거하고 그들을 경계하시기를 원하신다.

그들의 악을 심판하시기 위함이라기보다
그들로 하여금 하나님을 기억하고
하나님앞에 돌아오기를 바라시는 것이다.

디셉사람 엘리야는
하나님의 말씀을 따라
아합에게 비가 내리지 아니할 것을 경고하고
하나님이 피하라 하신 그릿 시냇가로
또 사렙다 과부의 집으로 피하여 거하고 있다.

하나님의 징꼐 가운데에서도
하나님의 사람을 지키시는 하나님의 사랑을 볼 수 있다.
하나님은 심지어 까마귀를 통하여서도
또 아무것도 없는 과부의 손길을 통해서도
하나님의 사람들을 먹이시고 살리신다.

물질인란
결국 하나님의 주권을 인정하고
그 말씀 앞에 살아가는 이들에겐 아무것도 아닌 것이다.
하나님의 손길은
늘 풍족하고 늘 정확하며
늘 온전하자.

필요한 만큼
또 하나님의 계획을 다라 우리에게 주어지는 것이다.

각설하고
하나님의 사람 엘리야는
사렙다 과부의 집에서 가뭄이 끝날 때 까지 우거한다.
그러면서 하나님의 살아계심을 증거하는 또다른 기사를 볼 수 있다.

그 과부의 아들이 죽은 것이다.
병이 들고 죽어가는 그 온 과정 가운데
하나님은 개입하지 않으신다.
엘리야 역시 전혀 개입하지 아니한다.
그러나 그 아이가 죽자 상황은 바뀌고 있다.

과부는 엘리야에게 고백하기를
"당신으로 인하여 나의 죄가 드러나고 있다"고 말하고
"그 죄로 인하여 아들이 죽었다"고 고백하고 있다.

아이러니이다.
하나님을 만나고 그의 선지자를 만남으로
자신의 숨겨졌던 죄를 발견하고
그 죄를 인하여 고난을 경험한다는 것이다.
그렇다.
우리가 그저 죄 가운데 거한다면
우리는 하나님의 말씀으로 우리를 비출 수 없을 것이고
그 말씀 앞에 범죄한 우리의 모습이 적날하게 드러나지도 않을 것이다.
그러나 하나님의 말슴을 가까이 하고
하나님의 임재 앞에 설 때
우리의 삶 가운데 있는 죄는 드러나며
우리의 부끄러운 모습은 우리로 하여금 고통스럽게 할 것이다.
그러나 그 고통과 괴로움은
고통으로 긑나지 아니한다.

엘리야로 통하여
과부의 아들을 다시 살리신 하나님은
과부의 예를 통하여
이스라엘이 하나님의 왕되심을 기억하기를 바라고 계심을 보여주는 것이다.

하나님이 이스라엘에게 나타나심으로
그들의 죄악을 인하여
하나님의 징계가 임하고 있는 이스라엘
가뭄이라는 고통과 괴로움을 당한 이스라엘이
과부와 같이 고백하기를 요구하시는 것이다.
우리가 하나님 앞에 범죄하였다고.....
그러면 하나님은
이스라엘을 낳게 하실 것이고
하나님의 살아계심을 알게 하실 것이다.


우리의 삶에도
하나님의 살아계심을 경험하게하는
우리의 고난과 고통이 있음을 안다.
우리가 하나님 앞에 온전히 가까이 가기만하면
우리 가운데 있는 죄악을 인해
하나님의 존재를 더욱 확실히 경험할 것이고
그로 인하여 하나님의 치유의 손길을 경험할 수 있을 것이다.

결국
나의 죄로 인한 아픔에도 불구하고
우리는 하나님 앞에 온전히 나아가는 것이 필요한 것이다.
