1. Elisha said, "Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the LORD says:
   About this time tomorrow, a seah of flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria."
2. The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God,
   "Look, even if the LORD should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?"
   "You will see it with your own eyes," answered Elisha, "but you will not eat any of it!"
3. Now there were four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate.
   They said to each other, "Why stay here until we die?
4. If we say, 'We'll go into the city'--the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die.
   So let's go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender.
   If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die."
5. At dusk they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans.
   When they reached the edge of the camp, not a man was there,
6. for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army,
   so that they said to one another, "Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!"
7. So they got up and fled in the dusk and abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys.
   They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives.
8. The men who had leprosy reached the edge of the camp and entered one of the tents.
   They ate and drank, and carried away silver, gold and clothes, and went off and hid them.
   They returned and entered another tent and took some things from it and hid them also.
9. Then they said to each other,
   "We're not doing right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves.
   If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let's go at once and report this to the royal palace."
10. So they went and called out to the city gatekeepers and told them,
   "We went into the Aramean camp and not a man was there--not a sound of anyone--
   only tethered horses and donkeys, and the tents left just as they were."
11. The gatekeepers shouted the news, and it was reported within the palace.
12. The king got up in the night and said to his officers,
   "I will tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They know we are starving;
   so they have left the camp to hide in the countryside, thinking,
   'They will surely come out, and then we will take them alive and get into the city.'"
13. One of his officers answered, "Have some men take five of the horses that are left in the city.
   Their plight will be like that of all the Israelites left here--yes,
   they will only be like all these Israelites who are doomed. So let us send them to find out what happened."
14. So they selected two chariots with their horses, and the king sent them after the Aramean army.
   He commanded the drivers, "Go and find out what has happened."
15. They followed them as far as the Jordan,
   and they found the whole road strewn with the clothing and equipment the Arameans had thrown away
   in their headlong flight. So the messengers returned and reported to the king.
16. Then the people went out and plundered the camp of the Arameans.
   So a seah of flour sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley sold for a shekel, as the LORD had said.
17. Now the king had put the officer on whose arm he leaned in charge of the gate,
   and the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died,
   just as the man of God had foretold when the king came down to his house.
18. It happened as the man of God had said to the king:
   "About this time tomorrow, a seah of flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria."
19. The officer had said to the man of God,
   "Look, even if the LORD should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?"
   The man of God had replied, "You will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it!"
20. And that is exactly what happened to him, for the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died.




하나님의 구원하심
그 구원을 전하는 사람들과
구원을 의심하는 사람에 대하여....

아람군대에 의해 포위된 사마리아성은
그야말로 극심한기아에 시달리고 있다.
서로의 자녀를 삶아먹어야 할 정도로
그들은 굶주리고 있는 것이다.
언젠가 북한의 현실을 전하는 편지에서
이와 같은 기근을 읽은 적이 있었다.

그들은 모든 것을 상실한 사람들이었다.
믿음도 상실하였고
그들의 인간적인 본성도 상실하고 말았다.
그들은 인간으로 가장 기초적으로 가져야 하는 이성과 의지도 없었고
수치와 부끄러움 죄에 대한 의식도 사라진 것이다.
그런 이스라엘에게 하나님은 기적적인 은혜를 베푸신다.

선지자를 통하여
이들을 구원하실 꼐획을 하나님이 가지고 꼐심을 선포하지만
그들은 믿지 않는다. 그것이 정상일지 모른다.
상식적이지도 않고 납득할만 하지도 않다.
하나님의 구구언이라며 가능할 수 있겠지만
그 중간에 아무런 반전도 없고
아무런 회개의 모습도 없는 이스라엘 아닌가
그들에게 하나님은 구원을 허락하시고
반전을 허락하신다.
그들이 하나님을 향하지 못해도
여전히 하나님은 그들을 향하여 계신다.
그들이 돌이키지 않아도
하나님은 그들의 고난에 무관심 하지 않으신다.

다만 그들의 모습을 통하여
하나님은 하나님의 살아계심이 증거되는
놀라운 일들을 하기를 바라신다.

두부류의 사람들이 나온다.
한부류는 그야말로 연약한 삶들이다.
이스라엘의 백성중에서 버려진 사람들
어떻게 보면 하나님의 저주아래 있는 사람들
백성들이 생각할 때 하나님이 버린 그들이 바로 문둥병 걸린 이들이었다.
성중이 기아로 굶주려가고 있는 마당에
성 밖에서 구걸하는 이들이 베불렀을리는 없을 것이고
그드의 상태는 그야말로 최악의 상태이었을 것이다.
사람으로부터의 보살핌도
하나님의 사랑도 경험할 수 없는 이들
그들은 자기의 목숨을 위하여
죽기를 각오하고 적진에 들어가고자 한다.
그것은 살기위한 행위라기보다는
죽음을 능동적으로 맞으려는 태도에 불과한 것이다.
이제는 죽어야 겠다는 심정이 그들에게 있었다.
이스라엘 백성에게 죽느니
적군들에게 가서 항복해보고 죽자는 것이었고
그런 그들의 마음은 인간이 선택할 수 있는 최후의 상태이었을 것이다.
그러나 하나님은 그들을 생명의 전령으로 사용하신다.

하나님의 은혜로 아람군대는 이미 도망했고
그 진은 먹을 것과 온갖 물품으로 가득한채 버려져 있었다.
그들은 그곳을 발견하고 자기들의 입과 육체를 위하여 채우는 일에 열중한다.
그러나 이내 그들은 이 구원의 소식을 전해야 한다는 의무를 생각한다.
비록 자기들의 처지가 그러할 지라도
역시 죽어가는 다른 동족을 기억하는 마음이 그들에게 있었다.
그들은 자기들을 사람으로 취급하지 않고
구원을 받을 수 없는 존재로 취급한다 할지라도
그들은 자기들이 불연듯 만난 구원의 소식을 전하기를 원하는 것이다.
이것이 하나님의 방법이다,
하나님은 엘리사를 통해서
이일을 알릴 수도 있었을 것이고
또한 행하셨을 수도 일었을 것이다.
아니 어저면 엘리사를 통하여 이렇게 하셨을지도 모른다.
그러나 이 구원의 소식을 하나님은
네명의 문둥병자를 통해 이스라엘에게 알리신다.

하나님은 구원하시고
우리는 그 구원의 소식을
우리를 멸시하고 핍박하는 이들에게조차 알려야 하는 것이다.
이것이 성경의 가르침이고 말씀인 것이다.

하나님은 이 일을 이루시는 과정 가운데
또 하나의 모델을 제공하시는데
하나님의 구원을 믿지 않는 장관이다.
그는 하나님의 선지자의 말을 듣고도
그 말을 믿지 않을 뿐 아니라 조롱한다.
하나님이 그 하늘 ㅊㅇ고를 여신다고 해도 그런일은 있을 수 없다.
참으로 무례하지 않을 수 없다.
그러나 너무도 보편적이고 당연한 언사일지 모른다.
그렇기에 더 무섭고 떨리는 말씀이 아닐 수 없다.

말슴만을 붙들고 살기가 얼마나 어려운지
그 말슴의 진위를 가리려고 하고
그 말슴의 속 뜻을 아로 싶어하면서
오히려 그 말슴을 온전히 신뢰하는 것이
우리들에게 얼마나 어려운 일인지

그래서 하나님의 말슴을 대하는 우리에게
어린아이와 같기를 바라신 것이 아닌가?
그런데 불행하게도 나의 마음은 이미 어린아이가 아니다
그래서 말씀을 듣고 그 말씀을 접하면서도
여전히 나는 나의 생각을 가지고 산다...............
