1. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
    Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
2. Mark my words!
    I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised,
    Christ will be of no value to you at all.
3. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised
    that he is obligated to obey the whole law.
4. You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ;
    you have fallen away from grace.
5. But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope.
6. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value.
    The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
7. You were running a good race.
    Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?
8. That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.
9. "A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough."
10. I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view.
    The one who is throwing you into confusion will pay the penalty, whoever he may be.
11. Brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted?
    In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.
12. As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!
13. You, my brothers, were called to be free.
    But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature;
    rather, serve one another in love.
14. The entire law is summed up in a single command:
    "Love your neighbor as yourself."
15. If you keep on biting and devouring each other,
    watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
16. So I say, live by the Spirit,
    and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
17. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit,
    and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.
    They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
18. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
19. The acts of the sinful nature are obvious:
    sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
20. idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
21. and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.
    I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23. gentleness and self-control.
    Against such things there is no law.
24. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
25. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
26. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.



갈라디아서를 제목붙이기를
"Be Free"라 했다.
과연 나는 그러한가?

바울의 말 처럼 율법에서 자유하며
죄에서 자유하여
우리의 삶이 자유안에 거하는가?

그리스도인을 살면서
목사로 말씀을 나누며 살면서
나는 육체적인 율법에 자유한가?
"자유"
얼마나 아름다운가?
그럼에도 또한 얼마나 난해한가?
나의 자유함이
때로는 방종임을 깨닫게 되고
나의 자유가 때로는 치기임을 깨닫는다.
"자유"하려다가
육체를 따라 살기도 하며
"자유"하려다가
오히려 자유치 못할 때가 많은 것을 본다.

"You, my brothers, were called to be free.
    But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature;
    rather, serve one another in love."

우리가 자유를 위해 부르심을 받았다.
그러나 그 자유는 육체의 소욕을 이루는 것이 아니라
형제를 섬기는 것으로 사용하도록 주어졌다.

나의 자유를
나의 형제들을 섬기는 일에 사용하다....
나의 사랑하는 이들을 섬기는 일에 사용하며
하나님의 사랑하는 이들
그러나 아직 하나님을 알지 못하는 이들을 섬기는 일에 사용하기를 바라신다.

오호통제라!
나의 자유는 어디에 있는가?
아직도 그 자유를 누리지 못하고 있는가?
아니면 헛되이 쓰고 있는가?

나는 하나님의 사람으로
성령의 사람인가?
성령으로 살며 행하는가?
아니면 육체의 소욕을 따르는 사람인가?

읽어보아도
점검해 보아도 아찔할 뿐인것을....

나는 어떤 것을 더 많이 가지고 있는가?

obvious, sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage,
selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
and envy; drunkenness, orgies.

이것들과

love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control.

이것들 중에서

그러나 실망하지 않는 것은
그럼에도 불구하고
내 속에는 그리스도가 살고 계시며
성령님은 나를 놓지 않으신다는 사실이다.
그렇기에 결국 나는
하나님의 주신 자유를 누리며
성령의 열매를 맺는 삶을 살 것이라는 것이며
그 부족함을 부단히 고민하며
깍아 세우며 살 것이라는 사실이다....
